Getting started with Formline
Your trainer has set up Formline to manage your coaching. Here is everything you need to know to get going.
Your first session
Your programme is already set up and waiting for you. Open the app, go to My Programme, and tap the session your trainer has scheduled. Everything you need is in there.
Add to your home screen
Formline works best from your home screen. Add it once and it opens like a regular app, full screen, no browser bar.
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
Android (Chrome)
Logging your sessions
Your programme lives in the My Programme tab. When it's time to train, tap the session and start logging.
During a session
- Log each set: enter the weight and reps for each set. Your previous performance is shown inline so you always know what you did last time.
- Set types: sets are tagged as Warmup, Working, Drop, or Failure by your trainer. Log them as intended.
- Rest timer: starts automatically after each set. Tap to dismiss early or let it count down.
- Skip or substitute: if an exercise is not possible, you can skip it (with a reason) or substitute it from the library. Your trainer sees this.
- Ask a question: tap the ? button during a session to ask your trainer a question. For clients on the marketplace, your question goes to the trainer community for a peer-reviewed answer.
After a session
When you finish, you'll see your session summary: volume compared to last time, your momentum score, and any personal records you set. New PRs get a full-screen celebration. After the summary, you'll be asked how you're feeling. A quick mood and energy check that your trainer can see.
Useful tools in session
- Plate calculator: enter a target weight and see exactly which plates to load
- 1RM calculator: estimate your one-rep max from any working set
- Session overview: tap the overview button to see all exercises at once
Progress tracking
Everything you've done since you started is tracked in the Progress tab. Your trainer can see all of this too.
Check-ins and habits
Your trainer may set up a weekly check-in: a short set of questions sent on a day they choose. Answer honestly. It's the information your trainer uses to adjust your programme and communication. Habits assigned by your trainer appear in the Habits tab. Log them daily. Your trainer can see your streaks and completion rates.
